Do Good Through the Mediation Process
Lawyers and litigants can know that they are “doing good” for their community simply by choosing Resolution to fulfill their court required ADR obligations. One third of every fee collected for mediation services goes to fund Pat’s Place and Safe Alliance, agencies who perform essential services for victims of abuse.
These agencies and the amazing work they do were highlighted in the June 2015 edition of the Mecklenburg Bar News. Compelling testimony as to the important role these agencies play can also be found on each agency’s website.
But the real reason Resolution chooses to support these agencies instead of other deserving community organizations is not found in the article or on the agency websites. The real reason Resolution supports these agencies is different.
It’s personal.
Several years ago, a dear friend and her daughter suffered a horror that words are simply inadequate to convey. It’s every parent’s nightmare. A beautiful, precious, six year old little girl was violated by someone known, trusted, and loved.
It was my honor to walk closely with my friend and her daughter through that immensely difficult experience. I sat in the waiting room at Pat’s Place while my friend waited in agony for the interview and examination of her daughter to be completed. I accompanied my friend on her visits to Safe Alliance to learn where she should go and what she could do. In that supporting role, I witnessed firsthand the invaluable nature of the services provided by Pat’s Place and Safe Alliance.
The compassion and sensitivity the skilled professionals at Pat’s Place brought to their often unpleasant tasks was incredible. Likewise, Safe Alliance employees and volunteers demonstrated unfailing commitment and heart in providing the guidance my friend so desperately needed. Turning Point provides similar care, compassion, and commitment to victims and their families in the Matthews area.
The words on the agency websites and in the Mecklenburg Bar News make a good case for supporting these agencies. But words cannot capture the utter desperation and heart-wrenching angst with which our community needs these organizations.
That’s why Resolution supports them.
And every time you select Resolution as your ADR services provider, you get to participate in ensuring that these agencies will be there for the next person, and the next, and the next, and the next.
On behalf of Resolution and our community, I thank you.
